Mobile stations are stations with antennas that can be used while in motion. Operating while moving is not required, and commercial power is not allowed. Mobile stations are expected to work from two or more counties/divisions.
Portable stations are stations with antennas that cannot be used while in motion and are deployed for use during the event period. Any power source is allowed. Portable stations may work from single or multiple counties/divisions, including county/division lines.
County/Division Lines/Corners: If Mobile or Portable stations operate on county/division lines/corners, a separate QSO and complete exchange must be logged for each county/division worked by both parties. Being on a county/division line/corner is considered within 30 meters of the county/division line/corner. Operating safely and in accordance with motor vehicle acts of the respective jurisdiction(s).
Mobiles/portables that change counties/divisions are considered new stations and can be worked for county/division multiplier and QSO Point credit.
Spotting: Use of spotting assistance and self-spotting is permitted (and encouraged) in all categories.
Contest Exchange:
Atlantic Canada stations send signal report RS(T), 5‑letter province + county/division code. Note that in NL, stations will use divisions rather than counties.
Non-Atlantic Canada stations (out of region) send signal report RS(T) AND province/state abbreviation.
All other non-W/VE stations send RS(T) and “DX."
Valid Contact:
Work Atlantic Canada stations once per band/mode. Atlantic Canada stations work everyone. CW contacts must not be made in the phone band segments. The Cabrillo log must include separate QSO entries for each county/division included in the exchange for all county/division lines or point contacts.
Cross mode, cross-band, and repeater QSOs are not permitted.
QSO Points:
Count one point per QSO regardless of mode.
Multipliers:
Atlantic Canada stations (in region)
Count Canadian provinces/territories(13), and US States(50)(count DC as MD), as available multipliers (63 mults/band)
Atlantic Canadian stations (in-region) who work each other will log 5-letter abbreviations. They will receive a provincial multiplier for the first VA/VE 1, 9, VO 1,2, or VY2 station worked on each band, including their own province.
DX stations do not count as multipliers.
Non-Atlantic Canada stations (out of region)
Count a maximum of 47 multipliers (Counties/Divisions), Nova Scotia (NS- 18), New Brunswick (NB- 15), Prince Edward Island (PE-3), and Newfoundland (NL-11 Divisions) on each of the five bands. (47 multipliers/band).
Bonus Stations:
Each Province / Canadian Call Area will have the opportunity to provide one (1) or more designated bonus stations using a Radio Amateurs of Canada Club Callsign (VE1RAC, VE9RAC, VY2RAC, VO1RAC) or specific club/station callsigns. QSOs with each of these stations will be counted as 5 QSO points once per band.
Specific provincial bonus station operations are not guaranteed, and a best effort will be made to confirm planned operations via the QSO Party website and/or social media before the QSO Party.
Scoring:
Total score is QSO points times the number of multipliers.
Reporting:
Logs should indicate times in UTC, band, mode, call, and the required contest exchange. All stations include your club’s name in the log header or summary if applicable. Entries must be submitted (log deadline) within 15 days after the contest ends. We will only accept logs uploaded via https://www.acqp.ca/logs. All logs must be in Cabrillo format. We do not accept logs in other formats or via paper.
Certificates will be awarded to participants with a (10 QSO minimum) who submit a log.
The decisions of the organizing committee are final. These rules may be updated at any time.
